This week, Mariposa’s Tales (she can be found at http://mariposatells.blogspot.com/) is the host of Fun Monday. She wants to know TWO things …...
“(1) Please share to us how the NAME of your BLOG was made? I can't wait to hear interesting funny stories!
(2) Please share to us (in words or photo, though a combination of both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!SO easy right? ;)”
How the NAME of your BLOG was made? After spending hour upon hour contemplating the proper name for this BLOG, I was out noodling at the local watering hole and snagged a 20lb catfish when the name just jump right up and grabbed me.
(in words or photo, though a combination of both will be a bonus!) your favorite/ most common dish!
This old brown weather bowl (My Mother’s Bowl) is my favorite dish and it is common. It is a Taylor Smith Taylor bowl made in the U.S.A. I know little of it’s manufactory or even how we got this bowl, can’t even tell you how it was cracked. The bowl just always was, my guess it is older than myself but than again there are a lot of item in this house/home that meet that quality. Why is this bowl my favorite because it has served my family well. Year after year, week after week, day after day it has been used: for the start of homemade bread and cookies; to serve potatoes, from salad, mashed, whipped, scalloped, buttered to my favorite creamed; to dole out vegetables; to supply salads; and even pressed into use as a gravy boat for those large family gathering. It has also seen it’s share of sweets such as pudding, including my mother bread pudding, and on those rare times homemade ice cream. It is not the most beautiful or largest yet it serves on, it was at one time new with gold trim, shapely edges, and someone must have thought it was lovely. But now even after it was creaked this humble brown bowl serves us. I find it’s beauty in it’s mars and scars and I love it for the memories that it bring to me of my family and friend setting around the table sharing a meal and of my beloved Mother. The bowl no long is needed daily, as the family has set out to form families of their own, and their children have set out to form their own families.

I love family mementos....if only they could talk....the stories they would tell!!
You noodle?!!?
Nice bowl and nice story...
Very nice story. I like the way the bowl looks.
Beautiful story about the bowl! Kept me thinking about old bowls that I have from my Grandmother.
Have a Fun Monday!
What a great story about the bowl and how your blog name came to you is very cool too!
I love anything with a history and your bowl has plenty of family memories which is wonderful.
I also love your header picture.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, that's an awesome story, short...but awesome. Fishing! Who would have known.
My brothers and my dad always noodled. My brothers still do. My dad passed away last year. I can understand why you like that bowl. Memories.
What a treasure you have in this family bowl--all the memories of when it was pressed into service. Your blog header/name is really bright and original. Good job!
Wow that's one big Catfish! I love the bowl. It's great to have family treasures....
Nice story...and the bowl! Happy FM!
(noodling at the local watering hole. ) So what happened to the catfish? Fried or released to dungaree another day?
Love the dish. My sis took the famed old crock that my mom had for years.
I love old dishes. I have some of my grandmother's and they are precious to me. Great story!!
though it has a crack, you might have an item of interest on the PBS Antique Roadshow on your hands. I don't think I can pas down Tupperware and paper plates. Excellent. Nekked Lizard Man
Yes, one must prepare for "pretending to be homeless". It's the basics...food, shelter, water and fire!
You should come camping with us one day and show us the fine art of noodling!
I love the blog name story- just jumped right up and grabbed you ;)
Family dishes are the best. :) So your britches were on fire? Wow! ;)
Noodling huh? Now this city girl would be clueless about what that is, but thanks to Dirty Jobs I know exactly what that is! How cool!!!
How awesome to have such great memories and a legacy attached to that family heirloom. I must say too, it's a positively stunning piece!
Thanks for sharing!
